What a swing setup actually needs in writing
A setup is more than an arrow on a chart. Here is the minimum written checklist we ask students to finish before they call a plan complete.
Many chart students can point to a pullback and say they would buy there. Fewer can write the conditions that must be true, the bar that invalidates the idea, and the review steps they will take if price stalls. In Nicholson workshops we treat the written checklist as the real deliverable.
A useful swing setup names the market context, the structure that qualifies an entry zone, the confirmation you wait for, and the level that ends the idea. Without those four pieces, later reviews become storytelling instead of measurement.
Indicator readings belong inside the checklist only when they have a defined role — for example confirming that a pullback has cooled relative to the prior swing. They should not replace structure language.
Bring your checklist to coaching with three marked examples. Instructors then coach consistency of wording, which is where most improvement shows up between sessions.
